It’s been quite a while since I’ve listened to Casting Crowns, and for some reason today I decided to listen to these two songs..
The first one really got me to thinking about how it’s so easy to be lukewarm without even realizing it. Over the past couple months every now and then my mind keeps thinking of the story of Peter walking on the water. I could go into depth about what I got out of it personally but basically it’s about faith. It’s about not paying attention to the waves around you and trusting that the Lord will walk with you and carry you through. So anyways, this song addresses what I probably struggle with the most, trusting in God’s plans. All throughout the song it talks about trading our plans for God’s, and not having faith in our own but in His. It’s about stepping out of the boat onto the crashing waves, moving out into the deep end where we can’t reach the bottom anymore and life is a deep abyss.. a place where complete faith is required for each step.
To me the second song is kind of a response to the first. You realize the lukewarmness. When I listened to this song today the word that came to mind was recommitment.
